Kyocera KR2
The Kyocera KR2 was built by Cradlepoint for Kyocera. It was essentially an MBR1000 in white instead of black, with the additional capability of supporting PCMCIA modems. It is slightly thicker that the Cradlepoint version to accomodate the extra modem slot, but otherwise is the same size.
Kyocera for some reason has chosen not to continue their relationship with Cradlepoint in 2008, and amazingly made no arrangements to maintain firmware updates as new modems were introduced. There is no support for any modems introduced after September of 2008, nor is any expected in the future.
We have chosen to discontinue selling the units due to this lack of support.
You can find them inexpensively, and they are a great unit if you have a compatible modem, but be aware that the newer aircards and modems will not operate with the unit.
As new technology is introduced, 3.5 and 4G, the KR2 will not support them, and should you have to upgrade to a newer aircard, the KR2 may become a paperweight. Please factor that into your buying decision.

Our recommendation is to invest in a current model that will continue to be updated regularly, and no one does that better than Cradlepoint!
