Securing Your RouterSetting up Security on your Cradlepoint RouterProduct: CTR350, CTR500, PHS300, MBR800, MBR900, MBR1000, MBR1100, MBR1200 How to setup and configure wifi security with and without the Wizard built into the router. Wi-Fi security is suggested by CradlePoint. Wireless security is separate from the user login page as it prevents users from connecting their computers to your router unless they have your wireless security password. The User Login is used to grant users access to the Internet after they have connected to your router.
WEP/WPA Procedures - Wizard 1. Enter your routers administration pages (192.168.0.1) 2. Go to the “Basic” tab 3. On the left panel click on “Wizard" 4. Select the 'Internet Setup Wizard' then 'Next' 5. Enter a new admin password. 6. Select your Time zone from the drop down menu and select 'Next' 7. Enter a new SSID in the 'Wireless Network Name (SSID)' field, such as "MyNetwork" 8. Select your security mode. "Good" for WEP, "Better" for WPA or WPA2 and "Best" if all your wireless devices support WPA2 9. Select 'Next' then 'Save' on the Setup Complete page. 10. Allow your router to reboot.

Go to Your Specific Security Type Below: ------------------- For WEP ------------------- 6. Choose a Key Length 7. Enter a WEP Key for Keys 1-4 (same or different) 7a. 64bit you NEED to enter 10 hex digits (hex digits 0-9,a-f) 7b. 128bit you NEED to enter 26 hex digits (hex digits 0-9,a-f) 8. Choose the default WEP Key 9. Choose authentication type 10. Go to Step 11 below -------------------------------- For WPA-Personal -------------------------------- 6. Select WPA mode, auto will cover both WPA and WPA2 if you're unsure which your adapter supports 7. Select the Cipher Type (If unsure, use both) 8. Enter a Pre-Shared Key (8-63 characters) 9. Go to Step 11 below ------------------------------------- For WPA-Enterprise ------------------------------------- 6. Select WPA mode, auto will cover both WPA and WPA2 if you're unsure which your adapter supports 7. Select the Cipher Type (If unsure, use both) 8. Enter your RADIUS server information 9. 11. Scroll up the page and click "Save Settings" 12. Click on "Reboot this device" 13. After your router is completely rebooted go to step 14 of your operating system to re-connect to the router. ---------------------------- For Mac OS X ---------------------------- 14. Select the Airport icon in the upper left of your screen. 15. Select your router's Network Name (SSID) from the list of available networks. 16. Enter your pre-shared key/security password. Note: In many cases when using WEP security mode, you will need to select the 128 bit WEP key type when entering your security password. This selection is often presented in the form of a dropdown menu on the same screen promting you for your security password.
---------------------------- For Windows XP ---------------------------- 14. Go to Start/Control Panel/Network Connections 15. Right click on "Wireless Network Connection" 16. Click on "Properties" 17. Click on the "Wireless Networks" tab 17.a If this tab isn't there, then you're running a 3rd party program to run your wireless networks. You'll need to decipher steps 14-20 to work with your program. Since all these programs work differently, we won't be able to give you generic steps on how to do this. 18. Click on the router 19. Click on "Properties" 20. On the initial page, fill in the blanks with the required information 21. Ok out of all the windows 22. Connect to the router and you’re all set.

On left Task bar go to Manage Wireless Connection 16. In list highlight your router 17. Remove/Delete router 18. Return to Network and Sharing Center 19.
